On Wednesday 19th March 2014, Evan Bayly the President of the St Patrick’s College Old Boys Association presented the Annual SPCOB Association Scholarship and a cheque in the sum of $1,000 to Jeremiah Savali, a year 9 student, at the College assembly.
The Scholarship for the St Patrick’s College, Town recipient is awarded to the son of an old boy on the basis of a nomination from Year 8 Principal of a feeder school and as determined solely by the Rector. Jeremiah attended St Anne’s School, in Newtown and met all of the criteria for the award.
Generally the award is made on the basis of the recipient displaying leadership potential, diligence (hard work) and all-round ability and contribution to their school.
The award is seen as an Entrance Scholarship and the criteria is determined by the Rector (and the President) from time to time.
The President spoke to the College Assembly about The Old Boys Association, talked about what the Old Boys Assoc does and how the Boys are all members once they enter the school gates for the first time given their parents pay a fee each term for their life membership.
The President also talked to the students about the OB Association paying for the instalment of the stained glass windows in the assembly hall, the lighting for them and also the funds given by the Association for the 2010 125th Jubilee celebrations.
